In the heart of Kingston, along Oxford Road, a space is emerging that captures the true rhythm of Jamaica—where music, movement, food, and community come together in real time.
Jammin on the Oasis is not just a venue. It is a cultural platform—one that blends authentic cuisine, live performance, and intentional programming to create an experience that feels both grounded and forward-moving.
A Space Designed for Cultural Emersion,Vibes and Connection
From the moment you enter, there is an immediate sense of energy. The open-air layout, warm ambient lighting, and thoughtful design create an environment that feels inviting, organic, and alive.
This is not a place people pass through. It is a place people settle into.
Groups gather, conversations flow, and the environment encourages presence. At the center of it all is a stage that anchors the experience—drawing people into a shared moment.
Soundtrack of the Experience: DJ Chubby Rock
Driving much of the musical energy behind the scenes is DJ Chubby Rock—a seasoned selector with over 35 years of experience.
With an international presence and a résumé that includes clubs such as Peppas, Pricilla’s, and Acropolis, his influence on the soundscape is both deep and intentional. As a house DJ and a key presence at Kingston Night Market (KNM), he understands how to read a crowd and guide the energy of a space.
His journey also includes touring across Jamaica with Courts Jamaica alongside cultural icons Ity and Fancy Cat—further grounding his role as not just a DJ, but a contributor to Jamaica’s entertainment legacy.
At Jammin on the Oasis, his sound is not just background—it is part of the architecture of the experience.
Live Performance as the Heartbeat
Jammin on the Oasis is anchored in live performance, and that commitment is evident in both the talent on stage and the audience’s response.
During our visit, the engagement was immediate and authentic. The crowd was present—standing, reacting, recording, and fully immersed in the moment.
This same commitment is reflected in the caliber of events hosted, including their anniversary celebration featuring Tanya Stephens.
This is not background entertainment. This is the main event.
Food That Grounds the Experience in Authenticity
At the center of Jammin on the Oasis’ culinary experience is Lead Chef Chairmane Breakcliffe, whose commitment goes far beyond simply preparing meals. She is the heart and soul of the kitchen—bringing passion, intention, and cultural integrity to every dish that leaves it.
Her approach is rooted in authenticity, ensuring that each plate not only tastes right but feels right. It is this level of care and connection that elevates the food from something you enjoy to something you remember.
The Red Peas Soup, with cow skin inna it, delivered a rich, traditional depth that speaks directly to Jamaican culinary roots. It is hearty, flavorful, and unmistakably authentic.
But the standout, for me, was the jerk pork with festival.
Perfectly seasoned and well-balanced, it delivered exactly what the setting calls for—bold flavor, proper execution, and a sense of familiarity that complements the overall experience.
Under Chef Chairmane’s leadership, the food is not separate from the experience—it is a defining part of it.
The People Behind the Experience
What elevates Jammin on the Oasis even further is the strength of the people shaping it.
At the forefront is Professor Orville Hall (Orville Xpressionz)—Board Chair and Creative Director. A respected figure in Jamaican culture, he is the Founder and CEO of Xpressionz JA, Artistic Director of Theatre Xpressionz, and a multifaceted creative as a dancer, lecturer, choreographer, radio host, MC, and Chief Judge of Dancing Dynamite.
Working alongside him is Shelly-Ann “Xpressionz” Callum, a Dancehall specialist, choreographer, lecturer, and cultural ambassador. Her work continues to push the boundaries of Jamaican movement and expression while staying rooted in its foundation.
Supporting the broader vision is a committed management and board structure:
Shauna-Kay – Board Member / Accountant
Auntie Jackie – Board Member / Head of Food and Beverage
Together, this team reflects a balance of creativity, structure, and cultural integrity.
Hospitality That Feels Personal
The experience is also shaped by the people on the ground.
Atina Coke, our waitress just two weeks into her role, already embodies the spirit of the space. Her energy, attentiveness, and genuine enthusiasm reflect a team that is not just working—but investing in the experience being created.
That sense of care, legendary service and unreasonable hospitality translates directly to the guest experience.
A Living Platform for Culture and Movement
Jammin on the Oasis is not just about what is happening now—it is about what is being built.
A clear example of this is their upcoming event:
The Evolution of Jamaican Dance & Music
May 25, 2026
This event reflects a deeper mission—to explore and showcase the journey of Jamaican music and movement from its Afrocentric roots to its global influence today.
This evolution has been shaped and documented by pioneers like Professor Orville Hall and Dance Xpressionz—an institution founded in Kingston around 2000 that has grown from a dance group into a leading force in preserving foundational movements while advancing modern dancehall technique and performance.
This is where Jammin on the Oasis positions itself—not just as a venue, but as a cultural hub for education, expression, and legacy.
The Eviziv Perspective
From a production and experience standpoint, Jammin on the Oasis demonstrates a strong understanding of audience engagement.
The alignment between:
Music direction
Live performance
Space design
Cultural storytelling
is intentional.
They understand that people are not just looking for a place. They are looking for a feeling.
And that feeling is delivered through authenticity, consistency, and connection.
Jammin on the Oasis represents a meaningful and necessary addition to Kingston’s cultural and entertainment landscape.
It brings together:
Music
Food
Dance
Community
in a way that feels authentic, elevated, and purposeful.
Based on what we experienced, this is more than a venue. It is a platform—one that is building momentum and shaping culture in real time.
It is not just a place to go. It is a place to experience.
