Press Launch Announcement: Caribbean Gospel Jerk Festival on July 6, 2024

Mount Vernon, NY - June 6, 2024 - Mission Unite is thrilled to announce the Caribbean Gospel Jerk Festival, set to take place on July 6, 2024, at Brush Park in Mount Vernon, New York. This unique festival aims to blend the vibrant flavors of Jamaican jerk cuisine with the uplifting sounds of gospel music, offering an inspirational experience for attendees.

In contrast to the typical jerk festivals that showcase leading dancehall and reggae acts, the Caribbean Gospel Jerk Festival will feature a lineup of celebrated gospel artists. The event is the brainchild of Dave Brown, a seasoned show promoter in New York, who saw an opportunity to create a festival with a different vibe.

"Over the years, I’ve been attending and working at most of the large outdoor festivals in the tri-state area and have always been enthused and curious as to why can’t we adopt the same concept in the gospel realm. Hence, in the latter part of last year we put together a team, Mission Unite, and decided we would organize a gospel jerk festival," said Brown.

The festival promises to deliver a soul-stirring experience with performances by renowned gospel artists such as Jabez, Judith Gayle, Odayne Rhoden, Patrick Reid, Emrand Henry, Golda McFarlane, Brother Paul, Bridget Blucher, and Princess Tyetia. Their powerful performances are set to resonate deeply with the diverse audience expected to attend.

The acceptance of jerked food by the American mainstream during the 1990s inspired a wave of festivals celebrating this cuisine in areas with significant Jamaican communities, particularly in Florida cities like Orlando, West Palm Beach, and Miramar. Now, Mount Vernon will join these ranks, but with a twist - a gospel-infused celebration that promises to be both flavorful and spiritually enriching.

“People, no matter where you’re from, color or creed, are always receptive to great food and music, and when both are combined in one package, it’s exciting,” Brown added.

The Caribbean Gospel Jerk Festival is set to become a staple in the community, bringing together families and individuals from all backgrounds to enjoy a day of delicious food, inspiring music, and community fellowship.
