MORE ABOUT CARIBBEAN GOSPOEL JERK FESTIVAL
Organized by Mission Unite and inspired by veteran New York show promoter Dave Brown, the Caribbean Gospel Jerk Festival is poised to be a groundbreaking event. Brown, who has attended and worked at most of the large outdoor festivals in the tri-state area, saw an opportunity to create something truly unique. “Over the years, I’ve been attending and working at most of the large outdoor festivals in the tri-state area and have always been enthused and curious as to why can’t we adopt the same concept in the gospel realm,” Brown said. “Hence, in the latter part of last year we put together a team, Mission Unite, and decided we would organize a gospel jerk festival.”
A Lineup to Inspire
Unlike the usual jerk festivals that feature leading dancehall and reggae acts, the Caribbean Gospel Jerk Festival will showcase a lineup of celebrated gospel artists. Prepare to be uplifted by performances from renowned artists such as:
- Jabez
- Judith Gayle
- Odayne Rhoden
- Patrick Reid
- Emrand Henry
- Golda McFarlane
- Brother Paul
- Bridget Blucher
- Princess Tyetia
These powerful performers are set to resonate deeply with the diverse audience expected to attend, bringing a message of hope and inspiration.
More Than Just Great Food
The festival will celebrate the acceptance of jerked food by the American mainstream, which began in the 1990s and inspired a wave of shows presenting that cuisine in cities with significant Jamaican communities. From Orlando to West Palm Beach and Miramar, jerk festivals have become a beloved tradition. Now, Mount Vernon will join these ranks with a gospel-infused celebration that promises to be both flavorful and spiritually enriching.
“People, no matter where you’re from, color, or creed, are always receptive to great food and music, and when both are combined in one package, it’s exciting,” Brown added.
